싱어송라이터이자 인권운동가로 활발하게 활동한 재즈 뮤지션 니나 시몬의 앨범.  그녀는 RCA에서 1967년 [Sings the Blues] 앨범을 발매했으며 뒤이어 같은해 [Silk & Soul] 를 발표했다. 제목처럼 "소울"에 가깝다고 생각할 수 있으나 그녀의 다른 앨범처럼 다양한 스타일을 아우르고 있다. 니나 시몬은 수록곡 "Go To Hell"로 1968년 그래미 최우수 여성 알앤비 보컬 퍼포먼스 부분에 노미네이트 되었다. 인권운동을 주제로 한 "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free"와 남동생이 작곡한 "It Be's That Way Sometimes" 를 수록. 제임스 본드 영화 [카지노 로얄 (Casino Royale, 1967)]의 삽입곡 "The Look of Love" 커버곡으로 수록.
